Palliative Care

Palliative care is an important part of our service. We provide support for people who are in the last months or years of their life, with the aim of improving quality of life until death, and allowing a peaceful, comfortable and dignified death.

We encourage you to talk to your family and loved ones about your preferences for care and treatment as you reach the end of life. Please see this website for ideas and resources. It is also important to talk about attempted resuscitation if your heart stops beating. This website has some good videos to watch.

We hold regular meetings with the whole clinical team to discuss in detail the needs of our patients who require palliative care. We also work closely with nurses from St Mary’s Hospice, who also attend our meetings.
