Post-Natal Care

6-8 weeks after the birth of your child, you will be offered and appointment for a post-natal check with a GP. At this appointment you can discuss any health concerns, mental health problems, contraception needs and so on. You do not need to have a physical examination, unless you have a specific concern that you would like the doctor to examine.

Before you come for your appointment, you may be asked to fill in a questionnaire, which will help the doctor to plan in advance how best to support you.

Perinatal depression or anxiety

Acacia’s services provide perinatal mental health support to mums and dads living in Birmingham experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of perinatal depression and anxiety.  They have been supporting families for almost 20 years and currently have 3 centres around Birmingham.  They also offer phone and web-based support too.   They work with all ages from young teenagers and up, with a child under 2 years.  There is also support for Dads.
