The Met Office, in partnership with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), has issued a red heat alert, this level of heat presents a significant risk to health, particularly for older adults, babies and young children, and people living with long-term health conditions.

Over the next few days temperatures are expected to reach up to 35 degrees Celsius, with the red alert in effect from Monday 22 June to Thursday 25 June.
Simple steps you can take to stay safe:
- Avoiding going out during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
- Keeping homes cool by closing blinds/curtains on sun-facing windows
- Staying hydrated and avoiding excess alcohol
- Checking in on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family
- Knowing the signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke
